    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 50 other interns with strong community feel, despite being spread across the country on projects. Colleagues very pleased to help and give you opportunity to take on responsibility.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Manager and other project leaders would commend contribution and effort.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My projects team consisted of myself and a manager... plenty of discussion, mentoring and support provided. Internship team always on hand. An MD (Partner equivalent) spoke in our induction week and offered to meet up for coffee with whoever wanted to.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given parts of the project to take ownership of; drove my schedule, organised meetings, working towards a launch date. Generally plenty to be done; at the beginning I had to be proactive in going beyond and suggesting what might be the next few logical steps... doing so showed initiative and built trust, which was rewarded.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Towards the end of my project I was the designated contact for a key client stakeholder and would meet with them regularly. If you are diligent with smaller things and show willingness to go beyond, you will be given opportunities to do so. Managers will appreciate you being blatant and open about your ambitions.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Time management and stakeholder management very useful when returning to university societies and into final year study.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Plenty of industry and practise aligned events, as well as friday drinks and social events. Down-to-earth but relaxed.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • First week induction was fantastic and quite structured. When on a project you are given a role and get on with it... ie it's not a shadowing internship, you actually get to do things.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In the first week we received training from actors on presenting, a business psychologist on skills and team work, all culminating in a group presentation to consultants and a client lead. Mentoring and feedback repeatedly given.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Good brand, huge variety of projects in global locations, plenty of structured training alongside a more down-to-earth approach than most competitors (you are expected to contribute early on) and a strong community feel amongst graduates and beyond. In an exciting position for future, notably regarding the intersection of strategy and implementation; the big strategy houses seem to be following suite.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A number of social events put on during the induction week and a pre-joiner event. Rooftop bar event to conclude the internship also put on. Beyond this it was up to you to organise.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London's expensive, and you may end up spending a good chunk of your summer in a hotel around the country. As expected.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London's is good but expensive.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Various sporting events were put on at the project level. There were a fair few social and informative events within industry/practise alignments.

    4/5
