    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had a fantastic year, gained a lot of experience and met a lot of new people.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel I produced a lot of valuble data that was useful to the company. I was treated like an adult and got on very well with all members of the departments I worked in.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I didn't have to worry if I had a problem as my supervisors were very helpful and provided support whenever it was needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The placement started off very slow with all the training needed but picked up and was I generally busy. There were a few periods where the work load was a bit lower, particularly when it was anounced that the site was closing down but this was out of my control.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the amount of responsibility I expected as a student and was happy with that.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained a lot of skills that are definately very valuable and I am certain they will help in my future career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Sometimes could be a bit quiet but we generally had good conversations.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Nothing negative I can say. Even with the closing down of the site it was all organised very well.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company spent a lot of time training me (as long as I needed) and I also had a performance and development plan that was very useful.

  • I enjoyed working for them and think it is a great company but because of the location I don't plan to go back.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a lot of placement students within the company so there was lots of social things going on.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being close to London I expected it to be expensive but was peasently surprised.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It wasn't the best place to be but as there were so many of us we had some fantastic nights out.

  • Nothing really that I was interested in but there were opportunities.
