  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • extremely enjoyable year, difficult to be away from friends and family but over all worth doing a placement at GSK.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • options were listened to even though we were students and didnt have as much chemistry knowledge. treated like a full time regular member of staff as we carried out the same work.

  • supervisors were very helpful and so was the rest of the lab, always someone there to ask questions.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • varied, if there was deadlines approaching them very busy. other times i had lots of time when waiting on senior staff making decisions on projects. this varies between students too.

  • responsible for reaching your own targets on time.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • helpful for final year project. hopefully having work experience will show its use when applying for jobs.

  • good atmosphere.

  • very organised. they do it every year so know what to do/how to treat you.

  • trained on everything needed. can be sent to seminars on organic chem if you want.

  • no graduate intake.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • often nights out planned. around 50 students (30 chemistry and 20 biology)

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • £350 each in a 2 bedroom house in the centre of stevenage. stevenage is a horrible location to live in. little to do expect go to London/Cambridge every weekend

  • chicagos, jumping jakc and liquid and a selection of shit overpriced pubs that all shut at 12 and are full of tramps
