    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great job with lots of personal development that challenged me.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Truly made to be part of the team, being incorporated into a small dev team helped. Making actual changes and solving problems that would then be shipped to customers made me feel very worthwhile!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Sync ups casually on a daily basis, and status meeting weekly helped to ensure I had enough work. Management being around and sharing the open plan office design meant they were always approachable with any Qs.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Generally very good with only a few occasions where I was left to get on with reading a textbook etc, but you've got to learn somehow!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As mentioned above, working of product code and merging it in to the central code store myself meant I made a real contribution, and my mistakes could easily have broken things for others!

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Improvements in communications and planning skills are invaluable, not to mention the technical improvements!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Communal design with only high up managers having offices and frequent social events and sports gave a great feeling of community. Focussed atmosphere but only because everyone's very interested in their work!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • A yearly intake of 30-40 even though the company is only medium sized means the scheme is now well-oiled and efficient.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Given presentations and talks by my assigned mentor with the aim that by the end of the summer I'd have a good grasp on the technology and products of the section of the company I worked in.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Got a Job! What else can I say!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 0Staying in company houses nearby and some organised social events (which the company paid for) made us into a very good group.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Subsidised company housing very cheap.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Enfield not the greatest with only a few pubs. Central london only 20 min away by train.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not hugely but it was only over the summer.

    3/5
