    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The vacation scheme has been a hugely enjoyable and valuable experience. You stay in the same department throughout your two weeks which is great because you can build relationships and get a better sense of what it would be like to work here.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone in my department made an effort to include me in the team and I participated in meetings and training alongside completing everyday tasks. A lot of people that I met, regardless of seniority, had come to the firm through the vacation scheme. Despite being very busy my supervisor and trainee buddy took time to explain deals and delegate tasks to me.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The graduate recruitment team are very helpful and supportive. My trainee buddy was great, managing to be supportive while at the same time letting me run with tasks on my own.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The two weeks I have spent at CMS have been great. I've learned a lot about how law firms work and how they interact with clients. It's been a great insight into what life at a City firm is like.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The vacation scheme was very well strucutred. On most days there were talks from departments within the firm, with the rest of the time spent in your department. This is ideal because it gives you the chance to really experience what life working as a trainee would be like. There are also a number of social events organised by graduate recruitment, giving you a chance to get to know the other vacation scheme students.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone at the firm was friendly and welcoming. The vacation scheme is effectively a two week interview but I didn't feel like I was being judged. The graduate recruitment team is great and it feels like everyone genuinely wants you to succeed.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The vacation scheme was very well structured and it felt like CMS was invested in us. I was given feedback on tasks that I completed within my department.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The vacation scheme helped me to understand the kind of tasks a trainee at the firm does, and the level of responsibility that you could expect when working here. Trainees get involved in interesting tasks and are not stuck proof reading or bundling all day.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • CMS has a reputation as a friendly firm and this was my experience throughout the two weeks.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Over the two weeks I was given tasks that a trainee would typically be given. I really enjoyed the work and so after completing the vacation scheme I can be sure that I would enjoy a career in law.
