Spring Insight Week Review

I very much enjoyed the insight week. I developed upon my technical knowledge with presentations, networking and also a volunteering activity which I felt was very worthwhile.

I felt valued throughout the insight week. For example, the analysts, HR and managing directors always seemed happy to answer any questions. The week was well planned and there was never a time where I felt that I did not have anything to do.

We received a lot of guidance during the insight, we had help from the analysts for our project which was very much appreciated considering they have a very busy day.

The skills I developed definitely supported me in a future career within finance. The presentations especially helped me develop upon my technical understanding of investment banking; this will be invaluable when working in finance.

The insight was very well structured. There was a planned timetable of events which all had a purpose.

The general atmosphere was very good, everyone was incredibly friendly, including the fellow spring interns.

They invested a lot in us. For example, the managing directors took time out of their day to talk to us about the firm. We also had an IT skills workshop and presentations regarding the different areas that Rothschild specialise in.

I felt that Rothschild ensured that they wanted to give us a realistic overview of what work in the firm would be like. For example, the analysts were very open about how much they enjoyed working at the firm. I also got to work shadow in two different departments which was very useful in deciding which area within M&A I would be interested in working within

The company culture was very clear to me even from the first day. Everyone at the firm emphasised the company culture to us and this was proven by the staff being very happy within their job roles.

It was very much valuable. It has definitely confirmed to me that I would like to pursue a career within GFA.

We were reimbursed all expenses including travel and a hotel.

There was time for networking. For example, there was a networking lunch with the analysts and also an afternoon tea with the managing directors. The managing directors and analysts were also very happy to answer any questions throughout the insight week.

They were very well organised and insightful.

Yes, I was impressed by the emphasis on volunteering outside of work. We completed an activity at London Wildlife Trust which was very interesting and well organised.
