The Role
Really enjoying the graduate programme. 6 weeks in Malta was great preparation for going into the field. Hard work for sure, and some long days towards the end but i felt i really progressed. Learnt a lot about finance and business and dealing with people. It continues in the field but is different. Lots of training and going out at weekends is great. Apartments good quality and social life is building nicely.
The grad group was great in Malta. All worked well together in teams and also had fun socially. In the field the office is large so lots of support and massive amounts of training. Always someone to go to for help or advice. Some of the advisers are amazing. Really skilled and Knowledgeable.
All the managers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Really enjoyed FX. It is a young team so they are especially on our level. Other managers were always available and also personal time each morning with the CEO, which has to be an industry first. Really inspiring. In the field its go, go, go. Lots of networking, seminars and client visits. Lots of support from big institutions like Goldmans etc
Generally fully engaged with lots of responsibility. There are quieter times and then really busy times. Power hours are the best. Learnt lots of product detail and investment knowledge, how the markets work and of course studied through out for CISI investment exams, which make sense of everything and gives a good industry base qualification.
A lot. We are dealing with live clients. Always sitting in on client reviews and new business deals. No day is the same. A lot of preparation is needed for client meeting and a lot of time finding and booking them in.
Great life skills, business and sales skills learned and these will be useful whatever my future holds. Learning massively about how people tick
The Company
Very motivated and competitive. Very busy. Start at 8am finish at 6 weekdays. Weekends are free, but you are still thinking about networking.
Very structured and detailed in Malta. After that is down to you but the grad programme is given in 3 month training modules to get activities completed and product knowledge learned and exams done. I have heard it does vary depending on your location. Bigger offices seem better.
You can see deVere is looking to find well educated and motivated graduates to be the advisers of the future. The programme has improved a lot since i started. The company is very entrepreneurial but does support you and invests in your training and development. Several graduates have stepped up to advisers already half way through the course. Most will do 18 months+

If you are a hard worker and have enthusiasm and a good attitude you will do very well. There are some wingers who don't. Promotion is down to you. I have seen many people promoted to adviser and area managers and higher in a very short time. So if you are good then the incomes are high and progress is quick. There is no ceiling except the ones you make for yourself.
The Culture
Brilliant.
quite expensive. Apartment is £800 per month. Most decent ones are around this number, but half is paid by the advisers. No tax certainly helps a lot as well.
Very lively.
Yes, Many sports and clubs.
