The Role
I enjoyed my placement very much! A varied range of tasks and a welcoming and supportive team made it a great experience.
Felt very valued- immediately felt like a member of the team and that my work was beneficial to the team.
A thorough training at the start of the placement meant I felt I had a very good understanding of what was expected of me and how to do the tasks assigned to me. Throughout the placement I felt comfortable to ask any questions I had. With monthly targets and reviews I also felt that I was well supported.
As is the nature of recruitment, some days are busier than others, but there was always something to do.
I was responsible for organising my own time and tasks, as well as using my initiative to develop new tasks to do. There was also the opportunity to experience different sides of the recruitment process through sitting in on face to face interviews and being offered to contact clients to try to win jobs.
I have gained a lot of transferable skills during this internship, including administrative tasks, telephone skills and German language skills. I have also learnt a lot about the different jobs open to linguists which has opened my eyes with regards to my future career. My interview skills and confidence have also improved dramatically which will help me in my future job searches.
The Company
Everybody is very friendly and welcoming, and as it is quite a small office (10 people) everbody knows eachother well and functions well as a team. I was not afraid to make mistakes or ask questions.
Very well organised. I had a lot of contact with the company before my start date, had a clear contract and was given lots of information before starting. Once on the placement I had clear trainings and it was clear what was expected of me over all and on a day to day basis.
I was given a very detailed training at the begining which taught me a lot about the company and recruitment in general. Throughout my internship I was invited into multiple trainings, for example calling techniques, so I felt that I was offered a lot of training and development opportunities were offered to me. I was also able to develop in different areas of recruitment, such as offered to make client calls and face to face interviews.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
There is the opportunity to work as a recruitment consultant after the internship.
The Culture
In terms of social scene with other placement students, the office usually hires one or two interns at a time, so in this sense it is not as sociable as perhaps a bigger company who hire lots of interns. However the company often hold team socials such as meals or drinks out which are great fun!
Munich is a relatively expensive city, with rent being the most costly in comparison to other cities. However other living costs are not too expensive and as an intern you can get a discounted travel ticket for the zones between work and home. Socialising in the city is not much different to other cities but there are some bars/ clubs/ restaurants that are more pricey.
There are lots of bars and clubs in Munich!
Munich has many groups that organise activities in the city through Facebook, including Erasmus and International Friends. Through these you can attend many different events including day trips to different cities, language meet up groups and different leisure activities.
