    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at MMT Digital. I was able to work on a variety of real projects as part of a team, with real clients, that were published in a live environment, whilst getting a real insight into the industry.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued. I was able to work both as part of a team and independently and input in how that work was completed. My colleagues valued my thoughts and opinions.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support and guidance from my peers - at MMT Digital I wasn't seen as a placement student, or an intern, I was seen as another developer in the company. I worked alongside the other developers and was given support, when needed, in the work that I was doing.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy. I was working on real projects that were delivered against deadlines for the company's clients. I wasn't overworked, but I wasn't sat around doing nothing either!

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In my placement year I was given the responsibility of delivering projects for real clients working as a developer in the company. Towards the end of my year I was also given the responsibility of leading a small team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think it's fair to say that without my placement year at MMT Digital I wouldn't have had the skills, or experience, to complete my degree at the level I did. If I'm honest, I learned more in that year than I did in my two years at University prior to that. It was really obvious in our final year classes which students had been on a placement year and which hadn't. I was able to make progress much quicker, and manage my time better to meet the deadlines.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was fantastic - the team were all very friendly and there was a great culture in the office. We would all get together for lunch and spend time together outside of work, including the social events organised through the company such as the trip to Amsterdam! It was a great working environment.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was well organised. Prior to starting I was kept well informed on my start date, time, and anything that was expected from me. From the day I joined there was work for me to do and my colleagues were available to provide training and support. I was well looked after throughout my time there and was kept up to speed with what was happening within the company.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company exceeded my expectations in terms of their investment in me. I was able to attend internal training sessions, external training sessions and industry conferences. It was fantastic!

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very. I am now a full time employee of MMT Digital, and love it just as much, if not more, than my placement year at the company. There are lots of opportunities and areas to develop your career at MMT Digital.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only placement student for a while, but there was definitely a good social scene amongst my colleagues, which I was invited to join. We played sport and went out in our own time regularly, sometimes even participating in 'hackathons' together.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was fortunate enough to be able to live in the same city as I was studying, which was really setup for students so the cost of living and socialising remained the same as when I was at university. I had a short commute to work, but was able to car share with colleagues to keep the costs down.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in the area that I worked was quite quiet, however most of my colleagues and I all lived in the same area, which was a student city, so the nightlife was fantastic.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, as mentioned in the other questions, I was able to get involved in both company organised and colleague organised activities outside of work.
