    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Like any other placement jobs there were repetitive aspects to this job but I soon discovered that if I proved myself I could get a lot more responsibility which kept me busier making me enjoy the job more!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team is really nice, I very much felt included in the group. Also it was obvious that my work was vital to the group, especially as I took on additional tasks.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Initially my manager supported me in every aspect, in regards to work and the personal challenges of moving abroad. However, as time went on I became more independant, which for me was a natural progression, I wanted to take my own responsibility!

    1/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It really depends- sometimes I did not have as much to do, but before events I would be very stressed trying to organise everything!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The projects that I was involved in I ended up virtually running by myself! In regards to the events I completly ran the show.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I would put 10 for this topic if it was not for some useless training I had to do for 2 weeks at the beginning of my placement, which was completely irrelevant and too hard. Apart from this the communicational and organisational skills I have developed are priceless, as well as technical skills using Siebel and WinApproach.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The people in the office changed during the year- it's much younger now and very pleasant.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Amadeus are used to having placement students (stagiaire) so the set up was relatively easy, including them paying for the initial flight here and a few weeks in the hotel.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The only proper training I had was 2 weeks at the beginning of my placement- as mentionned before this was pointless and actually quite de-motivating! Apart from this I had on-the-job training to supplement my daily tasks.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Healthcare from home

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have really enjoyed my job, but am not as keen on the company as a whole- the motivation is quite low generally. I have loved my year in France but have now discovered I am quite patriotic and would prefer to work in the UK after uni.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As mentionned there are a lot of other students here so the social life is great, whether that's sight-seeing, travelling or going for nights out.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As we live in the Cote D'Azur it really is expensive to go out-- eating out is quite drink, but an ordinary beer costs up to 10 euros, and your looking at 20 euros to get in to a standard club!!!

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a few really good clubs (like La Siesta in Biot) but that's only if you can afford it, if you get in with a good group then house and beach parties are fab.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were quite a few excursions/ activities organised by the company however, as a stagiaire you are the lowest priority to getting on them. But you can organise your own trips or activities like water sports.
