Finance/Accounting Intern Review

They don't come much better than this in terms of the atmosphere in the office. Every one is positive and willing to help develop you as an individual and you are treated like a normal employee as opposed to an intern. There was always something to do and it always helps when Mickey Mouse occasionally walks past your desk from time to time.

I was treated like a normal employee as opposed to an intern and was given very important duties to carry out. I was in charge of processing ALOT of revenue (£1million at times), so there was sufficient trust placed in me.

I was lucky to have such a helpful manager that was very dedicated in developing me as in individual. He was determined for me to leave with a strong CV and important work skills and was always willing to help me. They are also flexible with regards to working hours so if you ever need to leave work early they are happy for you to do so, providing you make up your hours another time.

I have a steady stream of work throughout the day. Sometimes it would be very busy and I was under pressure to finish work before deadlines however this only occurred around once a month. I rarely had to stay past my normal working hours (9-5.30) however I know that some of the other interns (particularly the accountants) stayed longer on more occasions.

I was given a lot of responsibility, the same amount (if not more) than some of the full time employees which was a great thing for me as I felt valued and I knew I was learning essential skills required for my future.

Very little of what we do in the finance/accounting department has any relevance to our degrees. However, your degree just teaches you the fundamental basics. Working full time in a real environment is much more valuable and future employees will be more interested in your work experience than what grades you achieved. You have to learn to interact with people, lead meetings and deal with real money under pressure; none of this is taught in your degree.

Very well organised, Disney have a well oiled internship scheme and have a lot of experience dealing with interns.

The company provided plenty of training sessions and there are also many opportunities to attend lectures during working hours from top professionals.

A lot of the previous interns have returned to work here full time. Managers are often happy to offer you a job once you graduate!

There is a very good social scene. My department had 8 interns so there was always something to do. There are also social events during work hours such as film screenings and the most popular event called the 'Disney Sale' in which we are allowed to go and shop Disney products with at least a 90% discount.

I lived at home so my costs were low however I know interns that lived locally to Hammersmith and from what I heard, the rent is rather expensive. But this is understandable as it is in the centre of London.

It's London so probably the best night life in the country.

Yes, there were many charity events/team-building events for charity. On one occasion we all went into a nursing home and completely refurbished it.
