    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • When I had work to do it was good, far too much time spent bored and underworked.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There wasn't enough work for me to do so I was a bit of a spare wheel really.

    2/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Not much, although it wasn't really his fault because he had no work to give me.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Barely at all 2/3s of the time, when doing my project I could fill a day ok.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Pretty much zero, I wasn't asked to do anything apart from my project for uni

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Not a huge amount but actually being in a lab helped to a certain extent.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Downcast, everyone was being made redunant as the company was moving so people stopped caring that much.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It would have been great had the people running it ensured I actually was given stuff to do.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They said a lot but did very little, anything outside of working in our group was useless corporate fluff.

    1/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I wouldn't go back no matter how much they payed me.

    1/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone got on well, there is plenty of time for socialising and everyone tends to live fairly close together in Macc

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly standard, expensive for the north but nowhere near what you'd pay in the south.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Appalling. You could venture into Manchester but its a pain in the arse getting home again.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A decent amount if you looked for them, can't really complain.

    3/5
