Role Description

Summer intern for 10 weeks in European Corporate Broking, in Sales, Trading and Research

    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a well structured, challenging and highly educational program with lots of networking opportunities and interns were encouraged to take on responsibility early on.


  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team I was working with were friendly, supportive and also good fun. They were willing to teach me a lot and the work I did over the summer was appreciated and implemented.


  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The HR team were approachable and helpful, and very good at answering any questions along the application process and also during the internship.


  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was never bored!


  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I took responsibility for two projects, and these were used by my team once completed. I also worked with other members of my team on all lines of business, which was fascinating and exciting.


  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship really helped my practice time management skills and university life, in comparison to the internship, has a lot more free time which I appreciate, although also look forward to the world of work now and feel better prepared for it.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People were always working on something, and were committed to their jobs.


  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well structured, and the other interns were really nice too!


  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Training at the beginning and throughout, and it is a major component of the graduate scheme.

  • Subsidised Canteen

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop


  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Mobility within the firm is possible too.


    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was great, both among the intern class and within the team that I was placed with for the summer.


  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was Central London, so it was expensive - although this was expected too.


  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Centre of the City, so great during the week and especially Thursday and Friday nights.


  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Where time permitted.
