    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The exposure you gain at Goldman Sachs is unparalleled. Throughout the 10 weeks I very much enjoyed taking part in a number of activities that provided genuine support to the team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The relationship I was able to build with my colleagues was exceptional. The team was incredibly open and approachable - and very much invested in my individual growth throughout the experience.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I could not have asked for a more supportive manager. My manager was critical not only in getting the most out of my internship, but in helping me navigate through the next few steps I will take after university. She also provided key support and encouragement throughout my work at Goldman Sachs - frequently providing me with useful feedback upon which I could build.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Life at Goldman Sachs is certainly fast-paced. I very much enjoyed working in an environment with multiple deadlines and projects.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Throughout my time, I was given a number of projects from very early on that required a great deal of responsibility. I was working on many tasks that directly affected the team, and so it motivated me to ensure that I was producing high-standards of work.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed at Goldman Sachs were probably the most critical in shaping my approach to life beyond university. The exposure you gain to the working world, and the ability to assess whether this is an area of which you want to pursue, has been extremely useful in going forward.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fast-paced, dynamic and relentless. There is never a dull moment in the Goldman Sachs Executive Office! The teams are all extremely approachable and supportive - continually pushing you to achieve even higher standards. I could not have asked for a more responsive office to work in.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Extremely well organised with clear project proposals and deadlines. There were also frequent social events for interns and employees, as well as a number of lectures that were extremely informative.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company, and in particular my team, invested a great deal in my personal development. From my manager, through to my mentor (a member from outside of your team), to my buddy (a member within your team), I felt entirely supported and encouraged to pursue and discover my own career goals. The skills and advance I received from those around me continue to shape my approach to work.
