    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Good hours. Work in audit tends to be seasonal. It was the "quiet" audit season during my internship, which is why I had the opportunity to undertake some Risk Assurance control testing work too.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Fantastic people to work with. Really setting aside time to help you develop your skills and career path. I had a great "people-manager" and "buddy".

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Three day training beforehand put me at ease.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was no steady influx of work. It was either hectic or very relaxed.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was treated as a first-year associate.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The softer skills help me in everything I do, eg time-management and building inter-personal relationships. The accounting pronciples I learnt will support my career in the future, but does not affect my degree course (science).

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Most of the time I worked at the client's site. Teams were friendly, and generally the clients were nice.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A few socials for the interns, organised by the firm, would have been great! Nevertheless we organised our own informal events.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 40% of my wages went to rent.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Again, would have appreciated a few organised socials for the interns, btu I was invited to audit summer ball which was fun!
