The Role
My work was varied and interesting. I had a chance to see a lot of different jobs and learned a lot about working in the government.
My colleagues were really nice and very accommodating.
My managers were fantastic and went above and beyond my expectations in providing support and advice.
Varied day by day. Some days I would have very little to do and other days I would be extremely busy. Ultimately it's up to you to manage your time and find work to do.
I was responsible for delivering pieces of work in a variety of projects.
Overall it was a really worthwhile experience.
The Company
Although everyone in the office was busy and sometimes stressed, they were also really nice, fun and sociable. Civil Service has a great working atmosphere.
Internship was organised well and had enough flexibility to tailor it to your own needs.
The internship invests quite heavily in you through general work and occasional workshops, but there is no structured training/development programme during the placement.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Very appealing although quite competitive. The internship does not lead to a full-time job.
The Culture
I was the only intern but my older colleagues were very friendly.
Outside of London so costs were very reasonable. The internship pays a good living subsidy.
I was nearby my uni so nightlife was good.
Nothing really tailored to students/younger age groups
