The Role
I really loved my job and don't want to leave! I have been given fantastic opportunities to get an insight into the Food Industry.
I feel greatly valuable and I am trusted to make samples to send to customers and do jobs which could have serious impact if I don't do them correctly.
When I started my placement I was not very confident but I have been given exposure by my managment so I have become a lot more confident and I have been given a lot of support and encourgement to get this far.
Some days I am running round like a headless chicken but usually I am nicely busy. I ahve plenty of jobs to be getting on with and if I do have a spare 10/20 minutes I complete my uni log book.
I have been given a lot of responsibility and this has increased as I ahve progressed further into my placement as I am able to handle more jobs and tasks with a lot of responsibility with more confidence.
I have learnt an awful lot of skills from a Technical view with doing trial in the factory to doing development and then all the paper work and meetings that go with it. I have learnt techiniques which I will have for life and will hopefully lead me to a great career in the Food Industry. At University next year I think I will look at things differently and have a more practical approach as I have seen what happens in the indusrty and it is a lot easier to refer to as I have experienced situations myself.
The Company
The office is great fun and everyone gets on really well. We have four hot desks in our office so often have visitors and these have all been welcomed to!
Dairy Crest are well practicised at having students and have the whole scheme set up really well. You have a few months to get used to the whole set up and after that pushed more to get the best out of you.
They have invested a lot. I have been trained for Maunal Handling, Vision and Values and to be able to work in a factory.

I would definatly like to come to work in this company again and I hope to in the future and I have made some great friends with my bosses and colleugues.
The Culture
We all live together in a converted barn and with students from the local Agricultural University. This has made my placement even more enjoyable as we have the social part as well as the working and I have made friends with people who I will definatly keep in contact with.
The living is very reasonable and much better than the standards in Sheffield! All the bills are included and the monthly payment is very reasonable. We go to the local pub nearly every night were the drinks are very reasonable as they are used to students and they put on many nights including kareoke. BBQ;s Table Tennis Tournaments and many many quizzes.
It is quite quiet where we live and you have to drive to the pub as it is too far to walk. We go out to the UNiversities Studnet Union on a Wednesday night but apart from that unless you want to drive to Shrewsbury that's about it!
I go and play squash at the University and there is also a gym. I feel part of the community here and living with the students has helped me do this.
