    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the internship, gained useful on the job experience as well as wider commercial awareness.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Given tasks and projects from day 1, all of which had an applicable and relevant outcome. Felt part of the team very quickly.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers and senior members of the team offered a great deal of help and support and were always available and willing to answer questions. The internship also runs a buddy scheme to aid with support - it doesn't work as effectively as receiving support from the team but does act as a good networking opportunity.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Every day I was probably at 80% capacity, this fluctuated by +/-20% depending upon how far in to the main project I was, naturally with busier days occurring nearer the deadline.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was provided with daily reporting tasks which were sent to the senior executive team, these needed to be completed every morning. The number of tasks grew as the internship went on. My final project is still being used by the team. The completion of the project was down to my organisation and initiative rather than being spoon fed from management. Responsibility was therefore quite high.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I completed the internship after graduating but found that the skills and knowledge gained from my degree (Economics) were highly useful and relevant. I would also suggest for students returning to the final year of their studies that the commercial awareness and market insights gained from the internship would be extremely useful to apply to studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly but hard working.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, professional and structured. The internship constantly provides learning opportunities.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 'Lunch and Learns' were arranged weekly with different business heads providing a presentation on their area for an hour a week. The responsibility gained from the main project is also an investment in itself.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Positions are regularly available and advertised internally.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Largely dependent on the cohort of interns but from my experience yes! The office is based in a vibrant area with plenty of bars/pubs/restaurants/social areas. Social drinks with the team on a Friday and lunch on the grassed area (with big screen TV for sports) at lunchtime with the other interns were regular features.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously all proportionate to how much you want to eat/drink out but typically lunch from a shop will cost £4-£5, plenty of chain restaurants offering good deals as well as local privateers. Numerous shops in the area. If you are looking to rent near the office then rent prices will largely differ from one area to the other, especially with areas like Sloane Square on the doorstep. Would recommend south of Vauxhall bridge if you want to save money - and perhaps a house share...

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good pubs not so many clubs.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, sport and social events were a regular occurrence.

    4/5
