    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great, really enjoyable placements that i would love to do again.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Really friendly and supportive colleagues, many of whom had been interns themselves.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was available if needed, but a large aspect of the internship was working independently and individually, which was great for me but may be overwhelming for some.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On the whole there was always enough work to keep me going. Never bored though some targets were optimistic.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The best aspect was the independence. Lunch breaks as long as you would like, arrive whenever you want, as long as you get the work done. Never felt like I was being constantly watched over either.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Had never programmed before I started, but they taught me some programming languages. Moreover, they also assisted with improving presentation skills and organisation.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly and relaxed atmosphere and lots of socialising both at lunch and after work.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Metaswitch are a company built around the interns! I really felt like they did all they could to integrate us into the company.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel like the company really did invest in us. I believe a fair few interns return to work for them in future so I can understand why.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Not quite got a job but have another internship with them next year!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Intern community was very strong due to having communal company housing. Younger employees also tended to be former interns so further socialising there.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Enfield is an expensive place but the company provided tabs for drinks at local pubs and meals out so actually it was virtually free.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not much in Enfield! Although only 25 minutes from the centre of London.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Clubs for sports and societies at lunch made it really easy to get involved, as did the on-site shower facilities and changing rooms.

    5/5
