    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the placement from day one. I always knew that the retail industry was an area I would love to work in and from the very beginning of the placement it was very hands on. How many other placement schemes give you the responsibility of running a store within the first few months??? The actual placement scheme is great as you get to choose what you would like to experience at each stage of the placement whether its sales, logistics property etc.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • For my year on the placement there were only 8 other students nationwide which meant that we were valued a lot by our colleagues. Also throughout the various departments of the business that I was experiencing and training with, everybody was keen to see how I was, and went that extra mile in ensuring that I understood everything and that I was enjoying my training.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Throughout the placement there are several appraisals where if you are struggling with something you can tell [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] the recruitment and training manager who is responsible for the placement students. I could also ring or email her at any time if I had a problem and she was happy to help. Also the management within a particular store or department which I was working in are also there to give support and guidance.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • When I was working in store it was a fun place to work but there is alot of work to do and so you dont have time to chat! However within the property department in Runcorn it was a great atmosphere as there was the usual office joker!

  • The overall placement was very organised and as Lidl are always improving their placement scheme each yeat it will get better and better. At the end of the placement we were asked on how we would improve the placement scheme and all our thoughts were taken on board.
