    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had a brilliant 10-weeks working at YouView, both the job and the atmosphere was thoroughly enjoyable.

  • All the staff were incredibly friendly and made the whole experience incredibly fun and rewarding.

  • My supervisors and fellow co-workers helped guide me through all of my tasks and objectives.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was set a list of tasks and objectives on my first day which kept me busy for the entire internship. On top of that I was able to help out with the day to day running of the marketing team.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was trusted with keeping the promotional aspects of the website up to date as well as liaising with external agencies such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4, BT, TalkTalk, etc.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was able to put all my knowledge from university into good work at YouView and the hands on experience that I received will heavily benefit any future employment.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Along with a fun and friendly atmosphere, there was also multiple events and and work nights out that kept everyone entertained.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Considering this was the first time YouView have run an internship scheme it was set up incredibly well and everything ran very smoothly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given hands on training from industry professionals who were able to help me with any and all problems that I came across throughout the internship.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I managed to earn a job through my internship with YouView at a partner company, starting only a few weeks after I finished.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We organised a fair few intern nights out and went out for lots of lunches and a cheeky drink or two after work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I managed to stay with family an friends throughout my internship which kept my costs down, but food and drink wise the prices were very reasonable.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As stated before, we went for a number of nights out with fellow interns and generally enjoyed the bar scene.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes. There was 7-a-side football each week and many other social gatherings occurring most weeks.
