The Role
The company was a great place to work, it was a chance to learn more about what they do, and what I really enjoyed was being a part of that.
I feel I was valued, I was given the opportunity to chose which direction my project work went in, and feedback from colleagues and team members suggested it was appreciated.
There was constant support from my team, not only my supervisor. I knew there was always someone available to ask a question to, and they were happy to help.
It varied on a day to day basis, there were some days where there would be lots to do with deadlines looming, but on there days, often when relying on others for data, the day could be a lot slower.
A huge amount, I felt truly trusted to research and subsequently decide which direction I wanted to take my work. I was able to meet with team members from other departments and take full part in these meetings to explain my work.
In terms of the subject that was covered during my placement, it was a huge learning experience, I was able to explore a really interesting topic which wasn't taught in my degree. Now having graduated and just started work, I can really appreciate the way my placement set me up for real working life. Straight away going into employment I felt comfortable with the change, and was familiar with so many aspects.
The Company
Very friendly. We had a casual dress code and everyone got on very well, it was very easy to strike up conversations with people around you in the office.
Once everything was up and running things went smoothly, but to begin with there was some uncertainty and lack of clarity as to what was happening.
I was given a huge opportunity to complete my masters project whilst on placement so for me I really felt the company were putting in a huge amount into my progress and development.

The team I was working for didn't have any opportunities at the time. But something may open up in the future and they seemed keen on having me back.
The Culture
There was within working hours and occasionally outside of them too. It was a difficult location to really socialise outside of work hours very often.
The cost of living was reasonable, but due to the location, and with a lot of people living further away, socialising in the evenings was not always very easy.
There was some, but not a huge amount.
There were some, but again partly due to location these weren't very often.
