    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the internship. The hardest parts were waking up in the morning and having a lot of challenging material to contend with, but overall I had a great time, learned a lot and had amazing opportunities.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued. Since I was given meaningful work to do, my colleagues appreciated a job well done.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support and guidance whenever I asked for it. There wasn't much formal feedback, but whenever I had a question it was always answered.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On my first desk, I was perhaps too busy because I was working in the middle of earnings season. There were a few slow days on Economy in contrast but I appreciated that to work on my own ideas.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility - a few times I replaced full-time reporters on important assignments such as reporting large company earnings or going to press conferences.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • To a very large extent, seeing as I will now be carrying on working at Bloomberg as a full-time reporter.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was very fun although sometimes stressful if breaking news was happening.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, although the steps between the internship and full-time employment could be made more clear.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They invested a lot. While we had a full week of training, colleagues were always on hand to answer any and all questions that I had throughout the course of the internship.
