  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great environment to work in, lots of other placement students provide a good social scene, whilst the work on offer is interesting and challenging.

  • Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, not just team mates but colleagues throughout the business.

  • Always able to ask for help and support if needed. Either from day to day manager or team, or through a manager dedicated to your progress.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Was always busy, there was never a time where I had nothing to do. The work was challenging but satisfying.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Asked to manage the recruitment for a particular scheme. Worked under very little supervision but was able to ask for help if it was needed.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Developed excellent communication, presenting and time management skills. Have also become a more confident person.

  • The team was very friendly, although it was not as social as some of the other teams within IBM.

  • Manager dedicated to your development as well as a task manager.

  • Handover with previous placement student, constant on the job training. You will always be finding new things to learn about. It's a very interesting environment.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Around 250 placement students nationwide means that there is a brilliant social scene. Nights out, holidays, day trips etc.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Portsmouth itself can be quite cheap, accommodation can be found for as little as £50 a week. Certainly cheaper than living in London.

  • Wide variety of social clubs and sports teams, including football and cricket.
