    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed being able to learn the business from the ground up; it's one of the key points from Enterprise. Everyone starts at the bottom, so it gives you the motivation and ability to see how far you can go if you're prepared to work hard. It was definitely a great experience to have done during my summer.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The office atmosphere was great, I felt like part of the team from day one, everyone was friendly, helpful, and keen to ensure I knew what I was doing. They all made me feel welcome and appreciated.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Any queries or questions I had were quickly advised or answered. They were always on hand to help, but at the same time, let me make, and learn from, my own mistakes.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Due to it being summer in Cornwall, it was always busy. Sometimes, things were non-stop and other times, a little bit quieter. It meant that time always flew by, and even when we were not busy renting cars, there was always something else to learn or do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I really had the opportunity to play my own part in the running of the business, having a go at everything from the necessary car cleaning through to chasing invoices. I would have really liked the opportunity to have run the day, deciding which customers had which car, and in what logistical ways we could conduct the day. I can understand that only being there for 3 days a week meant that it would have been difficult to get me in a position to be able to do this.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I haven't really worked, or seen, the variety of things that need to be done to make a business work like that, and that was one insight I really enjoyed. The sales and customer service skills that are honed with the job are an aspect I love, and will take with me into future ventures.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A great office atmosphere; lots of banter and laughter that is probably necessary in such an environment.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It is a well organised and thought out internship; there were a few teething issues with making sure I had computer access to key areas that I was supposed to be helping with, but nonetheless, it was a great opportunity. I can now say that I really feel like I have a decent understanding of the business.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They were very good at providing training opportunities on an area scale as well as locally. It almost felt a bit like an extended interview for a graduate job, so that I could really get a feel for the company, and that they could see whether I fit into the role too.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I think I will definitely have the opportunity to return to Enterprise if it suits myself, and that they feel I fit into the environment. I haven't had my final review as of yet, so I am not sure if I have a job for certain.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Due to locations of the work place, alongside the long hours that are involved with the job, there wasn't a social scene as such. Were I to have been there for longer, I am sure there would have been opportunities for work events and socials, but they didn't occur during my placement.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was living in the same area that I go to university, so I am used to the cost of living/socialising, which I would say is average. Because Enterprise have branches across the country, there is an opportunity to get a placement in the area that suits you best; you can really taylor it to your own needs.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Falmouth/Truro have a bar focused atmosphere, rather than a club focused one, which suits me fine. When you've got the beach on your doorstep any way, you can't really beat a beach BBQ, with beers, watching the sun go down.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There weren't really outside of work opportunities to get involved with, though there is a charity car wash coming up for the business' local charity that I would like to get involved with.
