The Role
In my position i get a fantastic overview of the whole company and therefore get to network with many different aspects of the business. This allows me to find out what my abilities are best suited to for future development. I love sports and being in such a professional environment has helped me to understand very quickly the demands and pressures that we are expected to achieve as a growing business.
It started out slow as the role can be quite complex at times, however, as i have become more involved with the tasks at hand i feel like a valued member of the team as i conduct critical tasks that others don't have time to do. I now work closely with all members of my team and support them on a daily basis.
My manager has been brilliant in helping me to understand and fulfill my role objectives. They have allowed me to grow into the role, whilst helping to answer any questions that i have, and at all times i never feel like i am a burden but an assett.
Adidas understand the mantra 'work hard, play hard'. On most occassions i am busy and have plenty of work to keep me going throughout the day, however there are times when i am not so busy, but due to my position within the company i have gone elsewhere, to different members of adidas and asked for work. If you look interested and keen to apply yourself it holds in good stead to get further ahead further down the line.
It can be a complex role and i am therefore a supporting member of the team. I have a responsibility to complete my presentations and tasks to perfection as a lot of the CEO's or managers use them with our clients or colleagues. However I don't have access to clients, but this is something i feel will come in time and i am happy to watch, listen and learn from now so i develop a full understanding of the business before i move on to another role.
I gained all of my skills and work experience during uni. As a graduate i felt it was important to be as pro-active at university as possible to gain a role in such a prestigious company such as adidas. I would therefore recommend joining sports teams (and possibly manage one), get work experience whenever possible, join societies or any extra curricular groups as you will be better placed against other candidates when it comes to your CV and interview.
The Company
work hard, play hard mantra is key in this office.
objectives were set and i am working towards achieving them every week.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
Its a tough market and very competitive within any industry now but with a 100% record (so i've been told) getting grads into full time positions i hope my chances are fairly high.
The Culture
the stockport office and manchester city center are quite far away and hard to get together. There are also so many different departments that i didn't really know any other graduates. I have therefore not used work to socialise with other colleagues at present.
