    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. I was able to experience a lot in terms of areas of the business and was involved in a variety of tasks.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very much so. I feel valued as i offered assistance and was able to help them with their workloads. Everyone was welcoming and friendly.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I would say this grew in time from the start of the internship. my line manager was busy to begin with however offered support and guidance on peices of work i was given and tasks i was stuggling with. I also had a supportive buddy who was able to give advice and guidance.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Again this differed over the time spent on the internship. At the beginning my line manager was very busy and so i struggled to keep myself from getting bored. however, the level of responsibility and amount of tasks i was handed grew to a point where i had multiple active at the same time. this kept me busy.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. I was able to contact external bodies and was given the opportunity to fully pilot certain tasks. I felt in control.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although i still have not started my third year of university i believe the skill i've learnt will be valuable in continuing my studies and beyond. personal development in any sense can only improve the way you work and learn.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office employees were very welcoming and warm. the atmosphere was kept light with jokes keeping everyone happy. I really enjoyed being part of the team and will miss them!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • At the beginning the placement was not very well organised as i was not told which team i would be joining and wasn't sure which offices to turn up to on the second day. I was also told that i would have a 'sponsor' for support however this was not followed through.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Not formally however, i did feel supported and everyone was willing to teach me various skills.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I enjoyed my time in the organisation however i am not sure i would return to my departement due to the nature of the job. having a degree in biochemistry and working in trading law is rather different and so i would ideally like to work in another area of the organisation perhaps commercial. So for this reasion It does appeal to me to work in the organisation but in a different area to where i completed my internship. I have given a 7 also because i am not sure if i would like to persure my science and work in research or in the NHS either and so an unsure what the future holds.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, we have had a few team meals and leaving meals (including one for me next week). The team does like to spend time together socially. I went to pilates with three other employees.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I luckily live around the area where i was based and so did not need to spend on accomdation or food.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are links to the university of hertfordshire union and st Albans/hertford etc however they do require a taxi to travel.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Some, involving some chairty activities, however otherwise i did not see many opportunities.

    2/5
