    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • There was a steady flow of challenging work, with excellent support from my manager and colleagues to help me complete the work. I enjoyed the work and I got on well with my colleagues.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like a valued member of the team, undertaking some high-profile work which was an important deliverable for the client. I felt more effort could have been made for activities outside of work to get to know colleagues better.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My managers were very supportive, never loosing patience for my endless questions! Their guidance was invaluable for helping me understand the project and building my role within it. They took the time out to give me regular performance reviews, which I felt were key to my overall development throughout the placement.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were very busy, which could result in long hours, but other days were quite quiet, occasionally leading to boredom.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given ownership of a high-profile deliverable for the client, but with the support of my managers I never felt overwhelmed by the responsibility they gave me.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Unfortunately my degree mainly requires good writing skills, however I feel this experience had given me skills with new software packages which I previously had not used and which I feel may come in handy in the future. Accenture trains its staff well on a wide range of software, so I don't doubt that if I use something new in future I'll have the support there to help me learn.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My colleagues were generally friendly, though we did occasionally have some angst created by the client. I generally felt like most people were approachable, though at times I felt my managers might be a little too busy to be disturbed.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Excellent Induction week. The training on Excel was incredibly useful for the rest of the internship - something which major accountancy firms (stupidly) don't do! The business challenge gave us insight into Accenture on a larger scale, and provided a great opportunity to get to know the other interns. My only criticism would be the late notice of where we would be working for the rest of the internship, as this limited our ability to plan where we would be for the summer! Overall though, excellent organisation and really well thought through induction week.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The salary was excellent. When working away the accomodation is very nice and the meal allowance generous. The Induction Week training was excellent.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The flexibility within Accenture is extremely generous, and it would be easy to have a varied career whilst only being employed by one company. Extensive training is given to graduates and there is clear progression available. I've no doubt that working for Accenture in the long run would be hard work, but it would be well worth it.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Interns went for regular lunches and drinks together. However working on a project outside of London limits your ability to participate in these events.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is expensive - standard. I was working on a project based near Portsmouth and as such it was much cheaper. Plus there's a generous meal allowance so you end up spending barely any money at all.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Working just outside of Portsmouth the nightlife was the hotel bar or BBC.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a football team and a cricket match. The lads were loving it. Me, not so much.

    2/5
