The Role
I loved the people I worked with, which was one of the reasons why I loved going into work every day. My job was challenging and I learnt a great deal about the business.
They were very friendly and welcoming, and I felt really comfortanble working with them
This really depended on the team, they will always make time for me but they sometimes didn't make it clear about the purpose of my tasks and so I was sometimes confused, but I learnt a lot more by asking appropriate questions.
I had things to do most of the time and I never felt bored.
I had real tasks and responsibilities and I felt that I was adding value to the team
It wasn't related to my degree at all but the business knowledge, confidence, people skills etc definitely.
The Company
They were all extremely friendly, although the nature of the work meant that everyone was pretty much always serious and busy, but with occasional banter, celebrating with cake in the office for birthdays (and singing happy birthday together), people coming to get snacks and chatting at the communal snacks pile I think it was a really good balance!
I missed the training/orientation week due to personal circumstances so I was at my desk from the first day, but my department organised my internship programme extremely well. They had all the various tasks and responsibilities they planned for me scheduled in a timetable so everything progressed very smoothly so that I could make the most of my time.
Having missed the first week I can't comment on the orientation week and what it involved, but all my learning came from working in my team and not through organised training events. There were a few networking events organised by the HR.

Great department with great people. I would love to work here but unfortunately the geography isn't very convenient for me.
The Culture
There were plenty of opportunities to meet up with other interns and go for lunch, coffee breaks or drinks after work. However I feel that I've socialised more with colleagues from my department.
The company paid full amount for my accommodation - the flat I was living in wasn't the prettiest but it would have been extremely expensive if I had to pay. Eating out a lot (the quality and variety of food is way too tempting) and night outs ended up putting a dent in my wallet, but hey they were worth it.
Tokyo has everything you can think of! Good night clubs are expensive in Tokyo, but the experience was immense.
Some networking events but nothing too grand. I wasn't invited to any of the volunteering events my colleagues were going to but I'm not sure if I should have asked.
