    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was great. I was given a variety of interesting projects to work on which allowed me to gain knowledge of different aspects of structural analysis. The work was at times challenging but there was always a chance to ask questions or get help so I never felt that what I was given was too much.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Once assigned a task I was left to carried it out on my won however was there was always someone available to provide guidance where needed. I felt that I was given lots of support but was also trusted to carry out work on my own without feeling watched over or checked up on all the time.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given a huge variety of work from different people and projects to keep me busy but I never felt that I was given too much or had too little time to carry anything out. I was usually able to carry out tasks in my own time and was only sometimes given strict deadlines but these were always fair and discussed with me. Very occasionally there was not work for me to do but in that time I was able to watch presentations and read project documents which I found interesting, informative and a great accompaniment to the project work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The work I was given was real work and the tasks varied in complexity. I was given lots of responsibility but there were lots of people to ask questions to and all the work was checked so that I didn't feel any burden with the responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training I received has provided me with a real understanding of the application of the subjects I have studied during my degree. I have solidified my theoretical knowledge and have gained skills that I will find useful throughout my career. During the final year of my degree I think I will further appreciate everything I have learnt during my internship.
