The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed working for the company. The projects were diverse in discipline and they pushed me to push myself to my full potential.
I felt like I had been part of the team for years, from week 1.
No question was ever laughed at or answered in a way to undermine me. Support and guidance was always on hand to answer questions, offer advice and more importantly ensure that I was getting on okay.
The days were filled with projects and tasks to work on. The time seemed to fly by the majority of the time.
I was given a great deal of responsibility during the placement. An example of this would be when I was asked to look into specific fittings and a control solution for a project. I was allowed to answer the phone to anybody who called. This was a big boost to my self esteem.
The way in which i have been working on projects should allow me to work much more quickly through university assignments by helping me to multi-manage overlapping projects and assignments.
The Company
Mostly quiet during the important times, with fun elements of laughter and joking when it was needed to brighten the day!
Everything was in place and ready for me on my first day. By this I refer to my IT user account and email address.
I was invited to attend two CPD events during my placement period.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Although no offers have been made, I would definitely be interested in any future opportunities that the company could offer me.
The Culture
I did not interact on a social level with any fellow placement students or colleagues.
I did not tend to socialize in the area. The rent in the area was rather expensive. I managed to secure a lower rate through lodging.
I did not look into the nightlife of the area as I have not really been here long enough. Also being on my own, I did not tend to stay in the area during the weekends.
There was the opportunity to play cricket outside of work.
