    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility as an intern but given plenty of support throughout the year. I was never referred to as an intern but a Business Analyst which I think demonstrates Disney's respect for interns.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There really is a community feel to the whole organisation. People will always chat to you in the kitchen and there are plenty of opportunities to socialise with other interns and your team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I could not have asked for better management during my time here. Both my manager and director were approachable, friendly and really helped me to expand my skills and experience.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had plenty to do but there was little pressure for deadlines. My manager had full view of everything I had to do so if I was overloaded she would adjust my workload accordingly.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for rolling out a project to the whole of EMEA, this involved training Heads of Retail from different countries and their teams. I also had the opportunity to be Lead Business Analyst on other projects.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe my experiences here have hugely helped in gaining my second summer internship at another blue-chip company. They have really helped decide where I want to go with my career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very open and friendly, the plush toys around the office and the artwork definitely helped!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I had contact with my manager before I started so any questions I had I could ask her. Each internship is different but I felt mine was very well organised, I felt like a member of the team very quickly.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Within my first week I had attended photoshop and illustrator training. I was repeatedly invited to conferences that I was encouraged to go to and HR talks. I was allowed to select some training courses that I went on throughout the year.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The only draw back is that they do not have graduate schemes, however considering the perks and the culture, I think this is not as important.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • From day 1 all the interns were put together and we met daily for lunch. I found our year of interns spent a lot of time with the previous interns who helped us integrate into the social scene. Our team also went out for lunch and evening drinks for celebrations.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is not cheap, my rent for £550 a month which was for a reasonable sized room down the road from work. I would recommend paying a little more for the location and walking to work. It will save you on travel costs and your sanity - there is nothing worse than a 5.30 tube during a heat wave!

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In our immediate area there was little nightlife, however it was very easy to go on the central line and go to the bigger clubs.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are yoga classes and I attended a running group for a while. The majority of the activities I participated in were intern organised.
