The Role
Thouroughly enjoyed my placement year.
I felt valued straight away by all of my colleagues - they each gave me the respect and responsibilities from day one!
I was given all of the support I needed from my line manager throughout the year - she was always jsut a phone call away to arrange time together or for a chat straight away - all of the other management team as well were fantastic for giving me the support I needed.
I was kept busy throughout my placement year - Christmas was a learning curve! I don't think I had 5minutes to myself over the peak period! It's what I expected though, a perfect amount of being kept busy throughout the day but enough to leave my work actually at the workplace!
I was given full responsability for certain areas throughout the year - at first when I needed more support I was sharing areas but then running my own departments towards the end!
I've gained so many skills during my placement year, and these are skills that I will take with me for any future careers. The training I received was fantastic - 9 different training days for specific areas during the year, but just learnt so much from being in a live role.
The Company
It was a great atmosphere in the office - there was lots of work to be done but everyone gets on all always chatting to eachother.
The placement was so well set up - you have a structured year and a placement workbook to get through to make sure you cover everything you need too, but if you want to develop in a certain area you have the freedom to change your training to suit your own needs as well.
There was so much time spend in my training and development, they get you together with other Grads and BPP's throughout the year for different training days - these are great days to catch up with people as well as being trained and learning a new aspect to your job. On the job there is constant development happening with all the support you need in-store.

I'm hoping to get a job back with M&S when I graduate - my manager is fully supportive of it!
The Culture
There was a good social scene when we all met up - however during the year there were not any social events set up for us to get to see eachother because we're spread all over the country.
It was good! Living is quite expensive if you want to live in the city centre, but socialising can be cheap if you go to the right places.
Lived in Leeds city centre so great!
Loads to see people outside of work etc.!
