  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was assigned a buddy before my internship, she kept me up to date with events in the office prior to me starting and answered any queries. I received as much help with my assigned tasks as i needed during my internship.

  • From day one I was able to contribute to the audit. I was given my own sections to complete, which were then checked before giving me feedback. I was asked to find out information from the financial directors at client sites which at first seemed daunting, however my colleagues were supportive and guided me with what to ask.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During the Internship I spent 2 days at Bradenham Manor training centre on a presentation skills course. The tips and skills learnt here will be very useful for both my degree and future work. I also improved my communication skills, interacting with clients and senior staff.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was good to socialise with other Grant Thornton interns on the presentation course. We also had a corporate responsibility day where we painted and cleaned up a school, this gave us a great opportunity to network with other interns. The Milton Keynes office only had one other intern whilst i was there, and they were in a different department. However, this made me socialise more with other employees which gave me a better insight into the company.
