    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • An excellent internship which gave me a much better insight into the financial industry. The whole process felt integrated and I was not limited in just learning about the sector in which I was learning, this included the opportunity for me to go on a tour of my office and meet the other operational teams- all of which were super friendly and helpful. There were also a lot of social events so that the interns could discuss their different placements and get to know each other.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All of the graduate recruitment staff were really great at organising one to ones to make sure I was happy with what I was doing and developing the skills and knowledge that I had wanted. My team was also very supportive giving me time to discuss my ongoing work with them to make sure I was on track and doing everything correctly. This included my manager who kept in contact to make sure I was happy with my tasks- even when she was out of the office.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Excellent support from the graduate recruitment staff to help me attain the targets I had mentioned in my interview. My team members were also always happy to help! It as great in that I had the opportunity to work with each member of my team on different smaller oversight projects at one point or another.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was not overworked but at the same time was given a steady flow of smaller jobs or projects to complete between gaps in my main schedule.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given several different projects to undertake which were going to be adopted by my team following the end of my internship. This was great in that it encouraged me to talk to lots of different people within Fidelity to improve the proposals in my project, in turn I learnt more about the business as a whole. Knowing that my work was going to be of genuine use to my team made the experience feel all the more real.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel the internship has helped my develop in areas I would otherwise have shied away from which has definitely helped me develop skills that I didn't know I had!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked in a very big office away from the main London office, it had a great canteen and free shuttle buses which was good. In some ways I missed being in the central London office as I felt that I was a bit out of the way however as time went on I realised that being in a completely different office offered me the opportunity to see a side of the business that many of the other interns could not- this was really valuable in helping me create one of my reviews.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Really excellent- we were given training, insight sessions and tours to really introduce us to the industry and business. At the same time this did not fill all of our time and I was happy with the time I spent in the office also working on the projects I had been given. Overall I came out of the internship feeling that I knew far more about the financial services industry and fidelity while having gained valuable skills from my placement with my team.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned above we were given training and bi-weekly insight sessions. I genuinely felt valued by Fidelity which was excellent.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Seems like a brilliant company to work for, but I understand that it can be competitive trying to get a job!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Fidelity organised social events for us and we also found time to go to the pub togetehr a number of times. Speaking to some interns on another scheme within Fidelity you may have to spend longer hours in the office however the graduate recruitment team made sure we still had an opportunity to get to know each other.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is expensive to be expected. The Oakhill office offers a subsidised canteen which is brilliant with a free shuttle bus to the station. Overall my cost of living was not too high.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It's London!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Outside of those organised by Fidelity I met up with some of the other interns a number of times- this side of things is sortof dictated by how involved you would like to be.

    4/5
