    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was extremely enjoyable but at the same time was particularly challenging. I was able to experience various HR functions and learned alot from these opportunities.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt really valued by all of the colleagues I worked closely with; spending alot of time with them and getting to know colleagues well on a personal level. You are also given the oportunity to meet other placement students and graduates working accross the regions.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given lots of guidance throughout the whole programme. You are given full programme, and attachment specific, guides which were particularly useful to prepare with and manage expectations. I also had the opportunity to regularly meet up with management for general feedback and also more formalised reviews.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Throughout some attachements I felt extremely busy, and felt I didn't have enough hours in the day! On other attachments I felt I was still busy, without much free time, but was also given an opportunity to spend time on university assignments.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of responsibility, fulfilling live roles in each attachment. However at no point was I given responsibility to the extent where I felt it was not managable.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt so much and improved my skills dramatically during my placement, which I can also transfer to my final year at university as well as in future employment.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • When I worked in an office environment, the atmosphere was really busy and exiciting. I immediately felt immersed into the team and was stongly supported by my colleagues in the office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was set up fantastically. I was given a clear understanding of what the year would look like shortly after I was advised I was successful at getting a placement. When moving between attachments to different HR teams, I had thorough reviews upon moving and was also fully prepared to move on by being given attachment guides for each job title.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel I was heavily invested in. I felt really valued during my whole time on placement. When there were key changes within the business, I felt well informed and appreciated that I did not affect the time spent on my personal training and development.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Hopefully my future employment prospects will be good! I will not have a confirmed job role until later in the year.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was able to socialise with people who worked in the same store however it was much harder to have a good social scene with people from accross the region due to working times and costs.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived with my parents so living costs were not particularly expensive.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I lived at home in Leeds which has a great night life!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Once I moved into a HR role it was harder to get involved in activities ouside of work, particularly with sporting activites.
