    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very inspiring at times, but there were moments when I wasn't too keen on it.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team is not close, because it is based around the world, ie you get to see some of your colleagues only couple of times a year. The ones based in the UK prefer to work from home and only come in for meetings or calls.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My first manager was extremely supportive. The next one was mostly too busy to guide me.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Mostly due to working in a global team - US doesn't start till 2pm our time.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Although, at times I was given some pretty important jobs, in most cases I could not be given the big jobs due to lack of experience and specific knowledge.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Relatively, I imagine them being applicable in a graduate job.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As a lot of people work from home, my only companion on daily basis was my manager's PA. Not fun. Ended up working from home most of the time myself.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Pretty well-structured, but as the team members rotate, each new one had to be reminded of my existance and scope.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Tbh, I expected more.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    International Travel

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Doubt it. I realised my personality is quite a way away from being a corporate slave.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were some.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Costs a bit to go to Central London. Nothing at all in the area I lived.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Zero.

    0/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yep, lots of volunteering. However, the widely-promoted IBM Club was not up to my expectations.

    1/5
