    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the placement and it proved very benficial to me in terms of gaining a wider set of skills and gaining an insight on working for a bank and a 9 to 5 job

  • My colleagues valued me a great deal and made me feel integrated and part of the team and compliance family

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was shown how to take tasks on and told to ask questions if i didnt understand certain tasks given. My manager advised me and made sure iw as comfortable with the work load

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • it varied. Some days when the workload was sufficient i was kept busy. However when there was litttle work to be done it did get boring.

  • A fair amount. I was given access to personal drives where i ammended databases and the like

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Again, it has given me an insight on how working life can be and made me more resilient and shown me that with perseverence you can get good experience

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly and homely. Everyone made an effort to make me feel comfortable

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Well. We were always given buisness briefings and assignments keeping us alert and interested. A programme was set up that included a rates trading game allowing us to get comfortable with each other

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • On the first day we were given an intensive training session paid for by RBC that helped familiarise us with banking lingo and the like. I was personally given complinet training by my manager to help deal with the systems and databases.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Fairly. the bank has a very good friendly atmosphere that makes it very appealing to work for in the future. it is also on the up and a very trusted bank which is essential nowadays particularly and prides itself on its client relationship

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The fellow internships got on extremely well and we bonded very well. We still meet up for drinks and catch up

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously the city is not known to be cheap but for lunch ect you can find some really nice reasonbably priced restaurants.

  • Didnt get to experience much but seems lively

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • dinners were organised etc to get to know other interns and to network with traders and workers. very beneficial
