  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I worked on a really great project in a team I really liked. I felt like it was a good company to work for

  • I felt like a valued and responsible member of my team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had an excellent placement manager who I worked closely with. I also had a scheme manager who I met with regularly.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days I was very busy, others I had to ask for more work. To some degree I had to be flexible about balancing this myself.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was an integral part of a project team who had a lot of responsibility but my work was often checked if it could have a high impact.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot from working with an experience team in a fast paced environement.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxed atmosphere despite fast pace of the work. We had several evenings out.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I moved projects half way through, the intitial team I worked with were not very well prepared to have me but once I transferred it was great.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We did several learning lunch sessions, the feelings was that they would hope to have you continue with the company on a graduate scheme.

  • I was offered a place on the graduate scheme in my final week.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We were well integrated and did regular social activities.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Live there anyway, Edinburgh can be expensive to live but Standard Life paid my rent so overall it was a low cost.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I live there usually. The Edinburgh Festival was happening while I was there so very exciting. Living in Edinburgh is exciting usually, lots of bars, clubs, student scene etc.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Standard Life has lots of socities and clubs you can join alongside team and intern nights out.
