The Role
I was pleasantly surprised with the responsiblity I was given from the beginning and I have enjoyed the majority of the role.
I felt like a part of the team from day 1 as IP's are treated equally to the rest of the department.
From day 1 I was assigned a mentor who has helped me throughout the whole year - she was extremely helpful and supportive
When I first started my placement I only recieved around 5 emails a day however further into the placement i became a lot busier with many meetings
As mentioned before I was given my own commodity to look after which gave me a lot of responsibility - 7M€ turnover with 5 main suppliers.
Personally, I do not believe that my degree benefited my placement year however I have learnt alot from my placement which I will carry forward into my final year of university and my future career. The main skills I gained were organisation skills, presentation skills, excel skills and negotiation skills.
The Company
Positive and welcoming atmosphere
It was well organised
I received training at the beginning of my placement to learn about each individual section within purchase, however the majority was on-the-job training during the year
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
I would like to re apply for the 2 year graduate scheme within purchase
The Culture
There is a graduate and IP comittee who organise events throughout the year (GRIP)
I lived at home however I do not think it is too expensive to live in either MK or Northampton, many IPs shared accomodation
Northampton & MK nightlife is acceptable
There are many clubs to join from sports to farming!
