    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Everyday was a learning experience. I was made to feel welcome from the outset and the professional and personal development training put together by the dedicated intern and graduate team has most certainly offered me the opportunity to grow. Overall, a fantastic year from which I can look back upon fondly.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I worked in a small office with 60+ staff and I was made to feel very welcome. People understand that interns have to relocate to undertake their placement and therefore make that extra effort to help you feel at home.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Every month I had a review meeting with my line manager for feedback on my work and personal performance. Unfortunately my manager was signed off for a lengthy period, so I had to report directly into the Managing Director which provided me some invaluable experience working with senior managers.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Like most new jobs there is a bedding in period, but once i'd gained the trust of my colleagues I was given some business critical projects which certainly kept me busy throughout my year.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given loads of responsibility, especially the last six months of the internship when I had the complete trust of my team. I was given projects that had a major influence both aesthetically and stratigically on the business.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working with senior managers on a regular basis, being allowed to manage large business critical projects and the professional and personal development training will definitely hold me in great stead for my final year of university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As I worked in a small office where most people had worked together for a number of years it was very easy to feel at home.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I can see why the programme was given a RMP award. We were given 5 main projects to work on throughout the internship and all our training sessions were booked into our diaries at the start.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were given both personal and professional development training at different sites across the UK, all travel and meal expenses were paid too. At the end of the year the interns are allowed the opportunity to present to senior Eaton managers in the EMEA region to gain a place on their esteemed Leadership Programme.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • At the end of the internship, we are given the opportunity to potentially gain a place on the Leadership Programme.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Some interns at the same site lived together and at all training events we got together the night before or after for some socialising.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • There is a subsidised canteen on site which was a bonus and with your student or NUS card you could gain extra discount.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The site is remote, so there was not much nightlife in the area. However there are some good nights out about 30minutes away.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Some of my colleagues played sport after work hours so you were invited along to partake in those, but the company did not arrange anything specifically.
