    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I learnt a lot, met some amazing people, felt that I contributed significantly, and even had a lot of fun.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I adored everyone I worked with, all of my fellow interns, HR and the people who trained us. I learnt lots from all of them, felt helpful, and enjoyed the time I spent with all of them.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Training was interesting and very helpful, my managers on my project were always willing to teach me new things and answer my questions, and HR always kept in touch with us and made sure we were happy and doing well.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were a few occasions when I had very little work to do due to problems with the system or because a lot of the project team were on client site. The rest of the time I feel I had a very good work load.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was pleasantly surprised about how much responsibility I was given: in just a few weeks I was creating designs and tutorials which were given directly to the client and used by them. I feel that my superiors were great at spotting where I had the potential to contribute something significant and encouraging me to do so.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Before beginning the placement I was worried about what I would do when I graduated but now I feel I have a foot in the door of the industry, a great interest in it, and a good understanding of how to begin to be successful.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My colleagues were interesting and friendly, and always happy to give me a new task.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Training was thorough even though it was brief, straight after this I joined my project where I had an informative induction immediately and began work that morning. Every week HR organised a meaningful and fun social for all of the interns, and towards the end of the placement there were several reviews, presentations and discussions to bring it to a useful conclusion.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I found the initial training very useful as well as interesting, engaging, exciting and fun. I was in constant contact with HR who kept me informed every step of the way, my progress was monitored on my project and by HR and I felt I was pushed into achieving as much as possible. I had the opportunity to test new training sessions and give my opinion on them. Our meetings and socials kept me informed and motivated to continue my career with the company.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The company organised socials once a week which were great, but we also met up of our own accord once or twice a week. On my project we had an engagement scheme which meant we had several meals, celebrations and drinks evenings over the summer which I enjoyed very much.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As I was working in the city, everything was very expensive. However, our weekly socials were paid for by the company.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not much to complain here: its London.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Mostly socials but also meetings and training.
