    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Plenty of opportunities to ask questions, friendly advice, outgoing grad team more than happy to help.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Difficult to feel particularly valued over the course of a day, but a good attempt was made. The work shadowing fell short of any meaningful work, yet this was to be expected in such a short period of time.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Plenty of opportunities offered to ask for guidance/support through the networking sessions and lunches right the way through to the negotiation skills workshop when constructive criticism was given to help improve our negotiation skills.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a non-law student, for the time being at least, negotiation skills etc. are not of particular use. Yet the broader understanding of the commercial world outlined over the day is certainly of use to anyone in any profession / undertaking any degree.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Clear timetable sent to students via email prior to the day to which we stuck. A few timing issues over the day but nothing that wasn't recovered by the staff.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone who applies clearly wants to be there, very keen and friendly bunch.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Again, nothing too major given that A&O First initially begins with just a day in the office. However, meals were provided and lots of guides and a helpful workshop were also given.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I imagine this will improve over the course of the next few months with the rest of the programme. Certainly as much of an insight as possible was given over the day!

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Same as above.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Prompt, quick and easy. First thing done in the morning over breakfast.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had a networking lunch and "speed dating"-esque session in the morning, as well as being given a tour by trainees. The shadowing opportunity also offered another opportunity to get to know better an employee of A&O.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Well organised apart from one associate rushing off halfway through! To be expected in such a busy firm!

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Over the course of the networking lunch you can chat with trainees about social events during the LPC/time as a trainee. Very helpful. Website also very informative.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • 5/5
