  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Varied massively - some days(/and nights) I had masses of work which meant working until 1am every day. At other times I had nothing to do all day.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • They certainly won't help me with my degree. What little I learned may be useful in a business environment

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • This is an investment bank. Fun is banned.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • There was little co-ordination between different parts of the organisation. eg. All the interns were signed up onto the Pension scheme - the central HR had no idea what an internship was.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • The teaching sessions they put on were exceptionally awful. Maybe 3 (out of the 20 we had) were interesting/useful/informative.

    • There's a very high conversion rate (above 75% in a good year) from intern to graduate position.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Pretty good, though a bit cliquey at times. Though lots of interns were too busy working all night to contemplate sleeping, let alone going out.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • This is the City of London. Don't expect anything other than pretty eye-watering costs.

    • Some pretty good bars/pubs in the city and clubs in Mayfair. Expensive though.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • There is no time for such frivolities.
