    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • From the onboarding process I was welcomed to the business which was very exciting. On my first day, I realised my team were very friendly, supportive and that Volkswagen Group was a great workplace. I was given lots of responsibility but support to go with that. This made the placement thoroughly enjoyable, with lots of opportunities to attend corporate events and launches.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was immediately welcomed by colleagues. I haven't had to say a bad word about anyone, the team is very friendly and they value the work I do, praising me where necessary which is a real boost.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I worked very closely with my manager meaning we were able to communicate ideas frequently. We had review meetings and an annual appraisal too.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy constantly, never bored and able to take on more work if I needed. My role was very cyclical, due to month end, which meant there was a real ramp up in extra workload towards the end of the month while other tasks still needed to be done.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility from day one. I was encouraged to give my views and make decisions on my work, structuring my own time.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I received technical training on Microsoft programs (outlook, access, powerpoint, excel) but I was able to attend external training courses that I can apply to other non-work situations too. In my role, I was in contact with lots of different people (and different levels of management) so I was able to build my communication skills to suit a variety of people, which will be useful in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was fun and friendly, we would chat throughout the day while ensuring work was still completed. The company kept us fed at busy times of the month - cakes, sweets, breakfasts! It was definitely a fun place to be.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I received lots of information prior to joining so I wasn't nervous about joining. I knew what was going on. Also, we were informed of training courses well in advance.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of time was dedicated by my line manager, colleagues and the business. I was given the opportunity to take time out of my day job to pursue the things I was interested in - learning about different departments and that sort of thing.

    5/5

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    5/5
