    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a very enjoyable experience. I had previously completed another internship so I could do some comparisons and this one was much better in terms of the work that I was given to do and the general atmosphere of the company.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I really loved working with my team because they were so helpful. I was introduced to them the moment I stepped into the office and from that point onwards, they were always there to offer me advice and help if I needed it.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was always given support if I needed it. Most of the time I was left to get on with the work that I had been assigned but there were daily meeting with my manager to have a quick chat about what had been done that day and what I was going to do next. We also talked about any problems that I had been having and he did everything he could to give me the support I needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In terms of how much time I spent doing nothing - next to none. All of the time that I was at the company was spent doing something useful, this was probably due to how well planned out everything was so the work was definitely balanced pretty much perfectly.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility that I was given was a breath of fresh air, it really was. I was quite excited to have the opportunity to make a real impact on the company and show everyone what I could do and pick up some valuable skills along the way too.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I said before, I picked up some really valuable skills while working at the company. This is of course inevitable when you're working in a demanding environment and you're around some of the brightest minds in the industry. I'm excited to put some of these skills to use in the rest of my degree and also when I come back to work at the company.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Amazing! The atmosphere was one of the main reasons why I really enjoyed coming into work everyday. Everyone was extremely friendly and it was a very nice environment to be able to work in. There was also a small kitchen where I could get refreshment so that was always a great way to keep me on my toes - a bit of coffee does wonders.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I would say that the internship was pretty good. I was informed in advance of everything that was going to be happening in the first week of the internship so that I could prepare and I had a chat on the phone with my manager to discuss my role at the company too. Nothing really much to say here, just that it was great.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training, the company was willing to support me with training to build up my technical skills as well as my soft skills. I found myself frequently having to think outside of the box and I think the internship was designed to bring out the best in everyone. I was also told that I could get further training online in any skills that I wished to learn. Having access to the company's materials certainly helped me learn things much faster than I would have otherwise.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I got a job, they offered me a graduate role with them!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene amongst the other students was good. I got along very well with all of the interns that I met and I was invited quite a few times to some events that they had organised outside of work to relax a bit.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was used to the prices in London as I've lived here before but they are definitely a tad on the expensive side especially when you're going out most nights. I didn't let that put me off though!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are just so many options in London. I couldn't really believe just how many clubs there were to choose from. I wasn't really that interested in clubbing before but now that there's so much choice I couldn't help but give it a go and it's pretty good.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The opportunities outside of work were frequent, whether it be a quick get together at lunch or a night out in London, there was always something to do when we weren't in the office. The company had some event for the interns too which were fun and a good way to get to know people quickly.
