    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement has overall been really good, in some places it has been very challenging, however I have enjoyed working at Atkins immensely

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt part of the team, I was not treated differently or looked down upon because I was a placement student, we were all there for the same reason to get the job done as best as possible.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • In certain aspects I was given a lot of support, however in other aspects I felt that I had been left on my own.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Mostly healthily busy, however as I was working on several small things throughout the year rather then one big project, there has been points where I haven't had a lot to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have been given quite a bit of responsibility, which has proved very good for my development.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have developed while here I will take with me for the rest of my life, in regards to discipline, time management, people management et.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the staff where fun, however we still got the work done

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was set up very well in regards to HR and training, however in regards to work I would be completing it wasn't set up very well, i.e. I had to find my own work once I started.

  • I was sent on a couple of training events which was more then I expected.

  • I have been promised a job already.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a very good social scene amongst the Graduates/Placement students/other staff, all are up for a night out and a good time.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It was good, I was located between two cities threrefore there was plenty of choice.
