    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed it a placement, pushed me in the right areas that needed improving.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team events each quarter that are funded by Intel, helped me build relationships with other colleagues. One quarter we carried out painting and decorating for the local community centre, and another quarter we went to Bristol on a Friday afternoon for lunch and treasure hunt.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly 1:1s with my manager to raise any issues or problems. Also had team meetings weekly to go through work stages. Also were assigned a 'buddy' to go to regarding anything.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Peaks and troughs in workload means on average, there is the right balance.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was in charge of $1000s each quarter and was in charge of multiple large multinational corporation.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Presentation and preparation/analysis of data skills in particular will help in the future. I have presented in front of top managers at the UK site.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was very sociable and team lunches meant everyone spent time together however there were quite a few times when a lot of colleagues were out of office. As we are away from the rest of finance it can be very quiet which can be dull sometimes.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Generally, was very well set up and organised however there were times when we were 'expected' to be aware of Intel terminology and systems without introductions.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is a lot of mandatory training within the first 3 months, though it does take a long time, it is very useful. The mixture of practical sessions and online sessions was beneficial in workload.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Financial Bonus

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Although the placement was very enjoyable, I personally do not want to work with Intel after graduation as the work can be quite monotonous especially in my role. I enjoyed it as an internship.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were about 50% of interns (about 30 people) who regularly socialised together which was very good otherwise the area would be very very dull. We did a wide range of social activities, celebrated birthdays, trips to cities, parks, Cheltenham Lido.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Swindon is a cheap town to live in compared to most and also because it isn't a city and doesn’t have a university here. Rent was very reasonable and food prices average. Socialising is also reasonable, much like the uni lifestyle.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • A lot of the people that went out seemed to be underage. The 'older' part of town is more sophisticated but was too expensive.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were so many raffles and charity work that was on offer and reduced price tickets for events e.g. go karting, trips to london, thorpe park. Intel do a lot to involve everyone and celebrate as many occasions as possible.
