    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very valuable year of real world experience. Although the job is not one of which I want to pursue in the future, I have enjoyed my time with GE and will take away a great deal of industry experience to apply to my future career.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt like a valuable part of the time for the majority of my time. However, some of the work I have been asked to do didn't always teach me a great deal. I learnt a lot more through working on cross business projects as apposed to my daily work load.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Worked in a small team of 5 so had the opportunity to work with all team members and they were all more than happy to help me with any questions or guidance.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Workload varied, some weeks I would have juggle multiple projects whilst working through day to day activities which at times was hard. However, at other times my workload would drop and I would have to use my initiative to create work for myself which wasn't too much of a problem.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The team trusted me to act on their be halve when liaising with customers and therefore I feel as though I held a lot of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although my placement was not directly related to by degree, I have developed many transferable skills which I shall apply to my degree and my future career.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • All the team had a great sense of humour and were happy to have light 'chit chat' whilst ensuring work was completed to individuals best abilities.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Our induction session was an hour long and took place a month into my placement. However, the internship did have a back bone and a intern project was organised amongst performance reviews. It was only after the intern project report out in which I actually met all the UK interns, would have been great to meet everyone at the start of the year!

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Completed online 'my learning' courses and the company organised growth months were employees could attend a range of career orientated sessions which was good.

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have options to go back in the future and work with GE and have made some valuable contacts in which I will stay in touch with. However, my role is one that I do not wish to pursue in the future.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • In terms of formal events, there was an xmas party at a n urban golf arena which was good fun but the majority of socialising was organised by interns. Went out for drinks most weeks and had some great nights!

  • London is expensive as an intern...enough said...
