    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thought that my placement as a whole was very valuable. I had a chance to develop my skills during my placement, by working with other departments such as Marketing, Customer Care even though I was in the IT Department.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • When starting my placement at Vauxhall, my colleagues here were very welcoming and friendly. I felt trusted, as they really gave me work that would make a difference to the organization. I do feel that my contribution has been important as they always let me know how much they appreciate the work I do.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I thought that the support and guidance given by the management when I first started, and throughout my placement was excellent. Whenever I needed help, my manager would be all ears, answering my queries. Vauxhall also held a mentoring programme were they set up a mentor (who would be a full-time employees) for you to talk about the problems you were having etc...

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had enough work to keep me busy, and when I had finished the work I had to do, and asked for more, they were more than happy to accomodate and were happy that I was keeping busy. When the work got too much, and I felt stressful, the management team always had back-up so that the work was equally shared.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At the beginning of the placement, I was quite shocked at how much responsibility you actually get. I had oppurtunities to manage a project at one point, and got given extremely important tasks.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I gained were mostly, communication skills, presentation skills, professionalism, time mamagement and I would have to say the main one was really enhancing my planning and organizational skills. I would say the experience and skills, I have gained here, would definitely help me secure a graduate job in the future.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I thought that the open days, the handover period all went very well. It gave us all a chance to meet each other, we had our housing sorted out before we started our placements which was great, and one less thing to stress about
